So far the biggest annoyance has been that I apparently managed to miss both a $300-off mail-in rebate (by 3 days) and the announcement of Wacom's newer-and-better model coming soon. Sigh.
Anyway, I got to try the newer one at Comicon Seattle and while the new button arrangement was a big improvement (the sliders are on the back so you no longer constantly bump them while leaning too close) it didn't seem like enough of a huge improvement to be worth paying a fortune to upgrade.
Maybe I'll get lucky and this one will up and die inside warranty.
Anyway, I heartily recommend the Cintiq if you can afford it. I've really started to like digital inking with it; much more approachable for me than inking with the old Intuos.

2023 Update
Wow, I haven't posted anything here in years. Hm. Let's see... For anyone who likes boardgames, you can order my Chibi Heroes boardgame here: https://shop.indiprogames.com/products/chibi-heroes. I also still sell some copies of my "Conan as portrayed by talking rodents" RPG, Hyperborean Mice. The RPG was eventually published and is still for sale at https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/83063/Hyperborean-Mice I live in Washington and do a lot of game development with Playtest Northwest (https://www.meetup.com/playtestnw/). Looking back over my old stuff, I'm always amazed to realize that I've actually gotten better at things. It never seems like it along the way. I'm retired now, so I have more time for art. Hopefully I'll be able to keep adding things here.
2018 Art Goals?
Last year I made a big push to start doing more with human anatomy and multiple characters interacting, just to generally get better at it.
Pretty happy with my progress, all told.
Next big goal, I think, is dumping the linework- learn to paint without comic-book-style lines providing all of the detail.
2018
Haven't updated this site in ages. I do have a few finished sketches I did over the holiday break, but I haven't even scanned them yet.
Hope everyone's artistic goals go well in 2018!
ManaSurge is a GO!
Our Kickstarter completed with every stretch goal met! Woo-hoo!
